Charlie Brown

(no subject)

So, I got a letter from Publix, certified mail thank you, and not having had any formal dealings with Publix lately, I was rather intrigued.

So, I opened the letter to find a notice that a check had been written for $102.42 and must be paid by 7 days after receipt of the letter plus $30 for a service fee.

For those of you who don't know, Publix is a grocery chain down in these parts (kind of high end but still groovy). So, I take myself to the police station and give them a copy of the letter and have them add it to the file. I don't know what they are going to do next. I will be calling tomorrow to find out what's been done now as of today.

Then I away with myself to the Publix where the incident occurred. I speak with the manager and tell him that I will not be paying this check because I did not write this check, because my purse was stolen, etc.

I give him a copy of the statement that I had written for the police and he took a copy of the letter as well and a copy of my ID and told me he would send it to corporate. He then mentioned that that had never happened at his store before. Well, I don't care, just make sure that your cashiers know how to look at an ID before they go taking checks for groceries from people who obviously don't look like me. For those of you who have met me, you will probably agree that I don't look like a heroin addict (I found out about her addictions from the kind gentleman who found my checkbook).

So, now it's more waiting. If any of you have any suggestions about how to get the cops to pick her up, please, let me know. :)

Other than that, things are okay right now. That is all :)
