Welcome to Kentucky, Marlboro or Winston?

All of the flights were on time. Yay! We (Sarah and I) arrived in Lexington right on time at 12:30 p.m. ready to get to the hotel as neither of us had had more than 4 hours sleep the night before.
Anne picked us up with a smile that couldn't have been removed, even if you punched her in the stomach and called her mom a whore. She was a little sad that our other friend Carol was unable to make it, but like I said, nothing was bringing her down.
So, she took us to her house that her and Dave had just bought. Well, his Dad bought it as their wedding gift, but they are paying Dad the rent :) Lovely place. I am also pleased to announce that I inspired a motif in the bathroom.
I sent her a picture of the Atlantic Ocean as seen from the Southern Most Point in the US in Key West. The color of the water is the paint on the bathroom walls. It also explains the palm tree shower curtain she had registered for.
Then her sister Kellie brought Sarah and me to the hotel so that we could check in, shower, change, loaf until dinner that night. There was no need for us to be at the rehearsal dinner, so we just vegged in the room. Sarah then fell asleep so I went with Anne to her house and hung out until it was time to get Sarah from the hotel.

So then Sarah, Anne and I went back to Anne's house, enjoyed medium rare hamburgers, hot dogs, and clay-pot chicken. Then we enjoyed margaritas (made only the way that I can make them), then lots and lots of beer. Opened presents, gave presents to the best man and maid of honor then just sat around and reminisced, told all sorts of stories about people we knew and heard about those we didn't know. Lots of fun.

Saturday came around and Sarah and I woke up around 10 or so, had a lovely breakfast at a little local place. Excellent biscuits and gravy. Yum! We went to Victoria Square and while we were in the art gallery it started to rain. It also looked like it wasn't going to let up any time soon so Sarah and I walked the five blocks back to the hotel. Young boys were jet propelled into puberty after they saw us walk in. :)

The wedding was at 5, so we had a little more time to kill so we just rested in our rooms for the rest of the day. The wedding time came around and we got ready and went downstairs.

It was beautiful. Anne looked so wonderful. Her dress was very nice, Dave was handsome and everyone just looked so nice and well groomed. It's amazing what dressing up will do for you. Ten minutes later, Anne and Dave were Mrs. Dave and Anne Bird. We then took tons of pictures and journeyed up the stairs to the restaurant in the hotel where the wine flowed freely and the filet mignon nearly brought me to tears it was so good. They also did something very nice where they had a group picture taken of everyone who attended the wedding and the mat that it will be behind in the frame is where we all signed our well wishes and what not. Lovely keepsake for them I think.

After all of the dining and what not. We all got to change clothes!!! Then after everything was put away and everyone was comfortable, some of the party went home, some went to bed and the rest of us went to the bar. After a few more hours of bonding, we all decided we were really tired and I had to fly out at 9:30 the next morning, so, we went back to the hotel, said our goodbyes and went to sleep.

I had a great time. It was weird watching someone I watched blossom from little southern girl to professional married woman and come to the realization that I still have a ways to go. I am so happy for her and Dave. I know that they will make each other happy.
