So, I had to redo my order since one of the vendors wanted to get a headstart on the holiday and take care of it today. So, I decided to finish up some other stuff and while I was there the guy who said he would close cook for the store tonight called out because a friend of the family passed away this morning. Turns out, it was a former driver of mine, he ODed. Fantastic.
While I was there doing paperwork I realized that the music system was on the rap station which I have been told is not allowed. This is from *my* boss. So, I pass it on to the supervisors that this is not to be on during business hours. Don't really need Mr. Old Man Grumpy Pants to hear about a song about jism or hoes or being a shot caller or what have you. Makes sense to me. So, it gets changed while I'm there. The thing is, the opening supervisor didn't know I was coming BACK to be the closer for the night. Or, if she did, she forgot to change the station back. I came in and realized about an hour later after hearing a lovely tune by Li'l Jon about said jism, that it was on the rap station. And there was a family, with small children, eating out in the lobby. Awesome. I changed it to the classic rock station, which is a bit more palatable and not so into singing about male bodily fluids.
This is so ridiculous it's not even funny, but here is the bigger issue: I am telling them to do something and they aren't doing it. This means that my authority is NOT being respected. I'm not asking them to do anything terrible like clean out the gutters or work 50 hours or give me blood. No, I'm asking them to please do not put it on one of TWO stations that we are NOT allowed to listen to. That's it. I don't see how this is such a hardship. I'm *this* close to asking my boss to just take the damn thing out of the store. I'm tired of fighting over the stupid thing. J and I spent some of our evening trying to decide which station to put it on. I figured Jazz would be good, not Smooth Jazz though, that would make ME want to hurt people.
We'll see what happens.
In other news, I finished Season 1 of Dexter. Good stuff. I kind of figured out who the big killer was early on, but the ending rather surprised me a bit. I look forward to season 2.
Ok, I need some sleep. I want to try and get there early in the morning to get started on a few things before the lunch rush starts. If it starts.
