I can't think of anything witty to say

I don't remember what day it was at work (they are all melting together) but I had it on the classic rock station and they played Pink Floyd's "Fearless". I love that song. It is one of my favorites from Meddle. Of course, that made me want to listen to Meddle all the way through, yes even "Seamus", but I don't think I have it on CD anymore. I also can't be bothered to search for it right now. But, hearing that song put me in a good mood.

Friday I hauled ass out of work and was out before 5 p.m. I had to get up to the OV to catch a ride with fermi_daza and one of her boys to go see the godess herself, Randi Rhodes. It was great to finally meet this woman. I've listened to her off and on for the past 11 years and she is just one of the best people I have ever heard on the radio. Of course, yesterday I kicked myself for not having her do a voicepost on LJ for me saying, "It's Friday, ya bastards!" It was L's son that was the most enthused though, he is absolutely in love with her. I kind of bullied my way towards the front of the line to make sure that he got there before she decided to leave. I got myself an autograph as well, told her I listened to her when she was with Jack Cole way back in the day. She looked rather surprised and did a quick impression of him. She's really a nice person. Even signed L's son's progress report/report card.

I had Saturday off and was going to go to the RG to catch the FSU game. Alas, I checked my bank account and it is a sad state of affairs. I also realized that it was a night game. That really threw my plans off, so I went into the store, got some lunch, then went back home and loafed around until it was about 8 p.m. I clocked in and futzed around with some paperwork, did the payroll and headed to 4th Ave to drop off payroll. It wasn't due until today, but I just like to get it done and over with the night that the payperiod ends. I try to do the same with inventory, but I usually just wait until the next day to get that completely finished. Anyways, I got to 4th Ave and they were having major problems with their money. $200 short. Oops. I tried to help, but I didn't really know what was going on with payins and payouts, so I bid them farewell and headed back home.

Sunday found me at brunch with the gang, losing quite nicely to Char in Scrabble. I didn't even manage to break 300. That made me sad. I'm ready for a rematch. rawr!

Went to Bookman's and read "Fish!" I felt silly for reading it, but, I think I may try to implement some of those ideas into my management of the store. One of the biggest things is to *not* be in a foul mood at work. It seems to make people not work as hard. Although, you would think the opposite would be true, they would try to make me happy by working, but no. :)

So, headed into work and it stayed nice and busy until 9 p.m. It was a nice change of pace for a Sunday. Although, we had this dead spot for about a half hour, so I sent the other cook home. Then we got busy again, so it was just J and myself tossing, topping, answering phones and believe it or not, everything got out on time. I was very proud of us and of the drivers. I even had my slowest driver on that night, but with some subtle dispatching of the drivers, things went very smoothly and she took a fair amount of deliveries. I had to reroute the very beginning orders because Hawk was trying to snag more than he needed to, so I told him that "No, you'll take this one and this one. She can take this one and this one." He relented, as he should, and all was well with the world.

Still lost money last week, but it wasn't as bad as it usually was. *sigh*

Today, well, today was a Monday. It was steady all afternoon and then it all came to a screeching halt. We *almost* hit projection for the day, but didn't quite make it. I wound up pulling an open/close because it was so dead, I sent my most expensive person home. J. I felt kind of bad, but his heart wasn't in it tonight. His family life is absolutely ridiculous right now. I feel bad for the kid. If he wasn't allergic to cats, I would let him crash at my place until he got his feet under him. So, I did the close tonight. It was easy peasy lemon squeezy. It's almost 11 p.m. right now as I write this, I finished about 10:25 p.m. :)

Tomorrow is my meeting with the bosses and I'll be pulling the president's ear again about getting that remodel underway. I really want this done. I just want her to understand that I am very serious about getting this place to be a hopping destination for delicious pizza and fun good times with the kids and shit. That should be a marketing campaign, "Fun good times for the kids and shit."

Think it will work?
