Top 100 Funniest Movies

I was reading Kristy's blog and she had a posting about Bravo and their idea of the Top 100 Funniest Movies.

I know the problems that these lists have, but this one. This one takes the cake. The list is under the cut. I'm going to take out some of the more choice entries outside of the cut so that you can see, well...how stupid this list is.

I haven't seen two of the movies in this portion of the list, but I can say this: very few of the 8 that I have seen had me guffawing. I think 2 of them did.

I'm sorry, but I can't even begin to tell you how much this portion of the list offends. Sister Act as one of the funniest movies of all time? I mean, yes, I had a few chuckles, but...well...it wasn't even a good movie. Let alone a funny one. I can, however, agree with Kentucky Fried Movie and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Those were pretty good.

There is one great part of The Three Amigos: the scene with El Guapo asking about a plethora of pinatas. That's about it.

When Harry Met Sally? No, sorry. That's not that funny. Now, Office Space, Dazed and Confused and This is Spinal Tap. Finally, we are getting some great movies that are funny and could probably stand the test of time. I know This is Spinal Tap has managed to hang around for a while. The Druid scene is fantastic.

Police Academy SERIES. No. The first one was pretty funny. That's about it. Dr. Strangelove, Ferris Bueller, Vacation, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Now, that's what I'm talking about.

I wonder WHY Monty Python and the Holy Grail is this far down the list. I really do. It makes me weep for humanity.

And how they consider Mrs. Doubtfire FUNNIER than Monty Python.

I can't even go on. I just can't.

This proves my theory that top 10-100 lists are crap.

Thank you, that is all.
