I did get the weekend off (this coming weekend) so that's exciting. I finally get to go to the much famed superbowl party at D's house. For whatever reason, I always wound up working, and usually closing, on superbowl sunday.

One of our centers is shut down due to weather, so we've had a higher than normal call volume. I also apparently have poor skills in doing my job. You know, because I don't repeat what they called in for in the appropriate format. And my handle time is high. Because these people don't know how to use their phones. And that's fine, I don't expect everyone to know how to use everything. However, there is a reason a user manual was given with the equipment. And for fuck's sake, PLEASE DO NOT HIT THE RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS BUTTON. I think simple deductive reasoning would give you an idea of what that is for. It doesn't make ponies magically appear, it erases EVERYTHING. you know, a "restoration" of the phone from when it went to the store from the FACTORY. *sigh*

I was looking into using qwest as an internet provider. $20/month for 1 year WITH phone service. I don't need a phone, first of all. So, without phone service it's $30/month. I wonder how much the phone service is. Couldn't find it on the site, but I also wasn't looking that hard. Maybe I'll just suck it up and pay the $80 to Cox and start up with them again. Have to see how much that costs.

I think the one good thing about my being unemployed for 2 months is a possible higher tax return. That's kind of nice, no? Hopefully there will be enough money to pay out the refunds. I heard that Arizona is sending out IOUs.

Got the car street legal on Thursday. Paid for 2 year registration. YAY! One less thing to worry about.

Back to internet, quick question. I'm not running torrents or anything, just watching hulu, netflix and email. would the 1.5mbps be plenty fast? thoughts, suggestions?
also, thinking about a netbook, or possibly a new laptop. any suggestions?

1.5 is fine. You can always go higher. And it is fine for torrents as well.

Remember, at call centers, they always tell everyone that they are doing a bad job, because they like to do things like fire everyone every six months. Plus, keeping you beat down and defeated is their job. You are probably good at what you do, they just need you to think that you are bad, so you don't ask for raises, unionize, complain, etc... They always need an excuse to fire you on a moment's notice. It's nothing personal. It's just how those places work. Remember, smile and nod, "I'll try and do better!" and "I will focus on that!" and "Thanks, that's good advice!" then go back to doing what you do. Chances are, the people who are reading the data are practically illiterate anyways. None of them know what they are doing. They've just been there longer...

Ha ha! Yeah, I think that happens a lot in the for-profit sector. They always want you to think that your company is just scraping by when it comes to meeting its minimum goals, and that your contribution to meeting its goals has been average, at best.

Chris says, "Probably not. You'd need 3 minimum. If she actually GOT 1.5, it'd be enough, but the problem is that you always get less than the advertised speed."

Is this for real? Are there customer service reps who get paid to answer questions on LiveJournal? That's awesome, if so.
