Catching up on Work

So, I was sitting in the admitting area for the ER doing some catch up work, finding old charts, etc. Just plugging along, and we got a bit of a wave of people who came in for treatment. One of them was in for a seizure, and he was in the process of being registered and started to have another seizure. At first I had no clue what was going on, I just heard his mom saying "Ay mijo!" and holding him across the chest (he's probably in his late 20s early 30s) and it took me about a minute or so to register that she wasn't just being sad, she was trying to hold him so he wouldn't hurt himself.

It was so horrible, just sitting here and not being able to do anything. Luckily, the triage nurse saw what was happening and got a few people out here right away, he got taken to the back immediately. He did bite his tongue, they are disinfecting the floor and desk right now, there was some blood and saliva.

Sorry to gross you out with the bodily fluids, but I just wanted to share some of the helplessness that we all felt. We didn't know what to do, nor could we really DO anything.

Oh, but I got a lot of work done :)
