What is your favorite John Lennon song, and why?

It's not "Imagine". That seems to be the popular answer to this question and it bothers me. I may be in the minority with this one, but I like "Revolution No. 9" and "The Ballad of John and Yoko", and my second favorite John song is "Instant Karma", but mostly because it is all wacky.

My favorite? "Watching the Wheels". I've felt that way before, everyone says one thing and offers advice about your situation, but you've got it under control, you know what's up. Along those lines, "Cold Turkey" is a pretty good one. :)

Mr. Lennon, your music will live on forever as long as we remember it and as long as Yoko keeps "finding" recordings in the linen closet. :)

RIP John and, you know, Happy Birthday

Love Rev9 (have you heard the Beatles on Ukulele and Shazam versions?), hate "Ballad of John and Yoko". My fave John pick would be a bit more cliched- "In My Life".

I have not heard those versions. But I have a feeling that isn't surprising. :)

A friend of mine recently discovered Magma, any must listens he should check out?

Shazam Rev9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glrYaNqOPDU
Uke Rev9: http://blog.thebeatlescompleteonukulele.com/?p=37 (That's a great site- I also recommend Wang Chung doing "Rain" on ukulele. They don't have any Frednoid Spazzypants, tho. :( )

Asking the guy with 100+ Magma bootlegs about the band is a treacherous proposition, as I will enthusiastically recommend every note they have recorded, up to and including the entirety of "Merci". That said, I consider my top two Magma releases to be K.A. and Wurdah Itah. Oh, and of course if he likes Magma, especially if he also likes the B-52s, he should definitely check out Super Freego! (I'll stop now.)
